Our story
This all began when my wife and I were camping on a hot, August, Summer, night. I thought, wouldn't it be cool, if I could make a vardo, that used solar power to run an AC unit?
Everywhere I looked, they said it could not be done. You cannot get enough power in solar panels to run your AC all day. But it turns out, it was just a math problem. Small space, good insulation, efficient AC unit, then it the amount of solar, and batteries I needed were suddenly within reach for real portability.
Everywhere we went, someone wanted to know if they could buy our vardo. Well, no, we built it so we could camp in it. But pressure escalated till in 2019, we started making them for others.
Today, most of our vardos are made for the Glamping industry, where we schedule our builds months ahead, to provide unique glamping experiences, with great views, and great amenities, all over the country.

    Oakhenge vardo starts exclusively making vardos, instead of a wide range of tiny houses.
  • 2020
    Our 12 festival tour is stopped by the pandemic.

    We begin making most of our vardos for the glamping industry.
